Hardware Technician
Summary:
IDEMIA National Security Solutions is seeking a Hardware Technician with an Active Secret Security Clearance to maintain and support highly specialized passport personalization hardware and IT systems to include laser engravers. These positions reside and operate at the Passport Offices and Agencies for the U.S. State Department through a national system of regional service centers across the U.S.
Your duties and responsibilities include:
- Coordinate and plan for upgrades, replace HW/SW components as needed, and prepare for consolidation and decommission/retiring of HW/SW as required.
- Monitor and document abnormal performance of server, workstation, and services trends as well as document and maintain site topology configuration and changes.
- Develop, maintain, and communicate diagrams, system configurations and technical documentation.
- Provide the full array of PM/RM services on all card printer systems and associated equipment. PM shall include all periodic cleaning, maintenance, replacement parts, refurbishment, calibration, and/or other adjustments of the card printers and related equipment as necessary.
- All PM/RM will be performed in accordance with the manufacturer specifications, manuals and other instructions. The contractor is responsible for ensuring that printers are operational during normal business hours. No printer will be without the capability to personalize passport cards for more than 24 hours.
- Provide and ensure availability, efficiency and effectiveness of systems, SW, HW, and data as well as technical support for testing and evaluation purposes.
- Installs, configures, troubleshoots, resolve complex issues, and supports ongoing usability of desktop computers, SW/HW, and peripheral Commercial-Off-the Shelf (COTS)/ Government-off-the-Shelf (GOTs) technology.
- Install and Troubleshoot DOS approved Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) for break/fix /move related issues or requests, maintain and support crisis management kit to ensure compliance with all current patches and updates.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS *
- Required clearance: Secret (Active)
- Familiarity with electro-mechanical devices, laser printers, or high-speed scanning equipment.
- Knowledge of PCs, computer peripherals, and the MS windows environment.
- Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams and be non-adverse to dis-assembly and reassembly on complex mechanical devices including motors and fiber optic scanning systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Good verbal communications skills.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of State background check.
- Must have a thorough understanding of analog and digital circuits with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot to PCB level.
- Ability to use a variety of hand tools and electrical test equipment in the performance of duties.
- Strong mechanical skills.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Working knowledge of electrical clutches, belt driven and mechanical geartrains, DC stepping motors, optical and proximity sensors.
- Ability to communicate on a technical level with coworkers, customers and engineers.
- Knowledge of the fundamental principles of lasers.
Work Status: U.S. citizenship without dual citizenship required
Required clearance: Secret (Active)
Education: High school diploma or equivalent and 6 years of professional IT support experience; Associate with 4yrs of experience; Bachelor's with 2yrs of experience; Master's with 0yrs.
Certifications: Preferred CompTIA A+ Certified, CompTIA Network+ Certified; CompTIA Security+ Certified
Core Work Schedule: Ability to work a floating 8-hour shift, rotating between 11 to 7PM and 3:30 to 11:30PM
